Honoring One of Our Own

January 2, 2024

This past Veterans Day, Calvert Systems co-owner, Colonel Joe Spivey, was Grand Marshal during the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce Nebraska’s Official Veterans Day Parade. The parade took place on Saturday, November 11, 2023, in Olde Towne Bellevue and is a long-standing tradition for Bellevue that celebrates and honors past and current veterans that have dedicated their lives to defending our freedom.

The day kicked off with an invitation only Dignitary Breakfast that honored Colonel Spivey (USAF Retired). Colonel Spivey grew up in an Air Force family and served 26 years in a variety of operational and leadership positions, several of which included time spent with the 55th Wing. His final tour was at the Pentagon, serving on the Office of the Secretary of Defense staff during and after the 9/11 attack. Since 2017, Colonel Spivey has served as President of the 55th Wing Association, an organization dedicated to “Honoring those who served and serving those who do”. Colonel Spivey and his wife, Arlene, have two grown children, Summer and Daniel, and four grandchildren.

The parade kicked off with the National Anthem and a flyover after which it moved down Bellevue’s Mission Avenue. More than 75 entries participated, including local businesses and non-profits, schools, and military personnel.

Calvert is honored to have Colonel Joe Spivey as a leader, and we thank him for his dedication and service to the United States Air Force.
